Greetings to God

Posted: February 25, 2010 in Uncategorized

This poem was written to my dearest friend of 30 years. It is one of my favorites, he loved it.

Greetings to God

A genuflection

If that’s your connection

Hand marking crosses

To show sorrow for losses

Standing or kneeling

Sharing a feeling

Loud voices hover

Your neighbor, love her

Head bowed and praying

Not meant for saying

Steeple made of  fingers

Childlike hope that lingers

Lighting a waxy wick

To help a loved one sick

Channeling wishes of a better day

And pain that simply goes away

Alone in your solitude

A necessary attitude

Reaching for enlightenment

Strength from encouragement

Power in numbers, or one by one

All are warm from a single sun

Greetings to God never cease

From all creatures seeking inner peace
