The Path

Posted: February 27, 2010 in Uncategorized

This was written about a little uphill path that was made over the years in the woods behind my house. Lots of kids go up and down it, on sleds or quads or on foot.  The dogs like to walk up it too.

The Path

Childrens’ busy feet in boots

Their wilfulness and determination

The catalyst of their creation

Simple, treaded tools repetitiously stomping

Gently curving around old trunks

Obsticles much too sturdy not to respect

The vines yield easily, some still with viable roots

All this time, the peak calls

The ultimate goal of this ecological disruption

A summit to perch upon

And reflect what used to be

Through time, this new mark in the scenery

Will be joyfully romped in snow and mud

A playful paradise etched out of resistance

Sledders careening down its steepness

And so the birth of this geographical miracle

Forever altering the previously untouched landscape

Good intentions, a human perception

For what good is the top, if it can not eventually be reached?

I really enjoyed reading this. It brings back memories of my own childhood paths.

I love this imagery! and how it flows light, hard, serious, playful, profound. Very nice ;o)
